In 2023，enterprises in Beijing demonstrated significant changes in their foreign investments in the Belt and Road cooperation countries，reflecting fluctuations in the global economic environment and shifts in geopolitical dynamics. This report summarizes the strengths of Beijing enterprises in the BRI and explores specific measures taken by Beijing to support these investments. It further focuses on analyzing the distribution of investment scale，geographic regions，industry sectors，nature of the investment entities，and investment methods. The data indicates that the scale of BRI investments by Beijing enterprises declined in 2023；however，the enterprises have expanded their presence in emerging markets，particularly with increased investments in Africa and the Middle East. This suggests that while enterprises are avoiding high-risk markets，they are actively seeking new growth opportunities. Meanwhile，the nature of the investment entities remains predominantly state-owned，with a gradual shift from primarily greenfield investments to more flexible non-greenfield investments. The report also proposes that in the face of current challenges and opportunities，Beijing enterprises need to further enhance their risk management capabilities，optimize their global footprint，and improve international competitiveness through technological innovation and green development. The government should intensify policy support during this process to promote higher-quality development of enterprises in the BRI framework.
