In 2022-2023，Italy witnessed over 100 thousand irregular migrants arriving through Central Mediterranean Route，while receiving around 170 thousand refugees fleeing from Ukraine. Hence，the coastal regions in southern Italy underwent severe challenges. This essay aims to provide an explanation to the significant rise of the number of migrants reaching Italian shores，by analyzing political，economic and social changes in the most important origin countries and boarding countries along three main sub-routes，and deciphering the composition of major migrant flows，their motivations and movements. This survey indicates that negative impacts brought about to various countries by Russian-Ukraine Conflict contributed to the expansion of migrant flows through all three main sub-routes. Firstly，foreigners fleeing Tripolitania driven by everlasting instability and deteriorating life conditions，along with Egyptians suffering from economic crisis and escaping in Cyrenaica，made Libya the embarkation country for slightly over half of all sea arrivals. Secondly，an increasing number of poor Tunisians and foreign workers departed from Tunisia，a country characterized by worrying political situation，economic downturn and high unemployment，and landed afterwards on Italian coasts，taking advantage of geographic proximity. Lastly，Turkish Sub-Route flourished，because a consistent number of Asian migrants，had abandoned traditional routes in Eastern Mediterranean in response to the strict border controls conducted by Greece and Turkey.
