Based on its understanding of the current world and regional situation，as well as its internal and external policy adjustments，Belarus actively participates in the activities of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization（SCO）and expects to become an official member of the organization. It hopes to promote political reform，economic transformation，and foreign policy’s “turning to the East” domestically，thus achieving the survival and development of the country in the profound changes unseen in a century globally. However，Belarus’ formal accession to the SCO will present both opportunities and risks. While bringing about regional breakthroughs and more opportunities for inter-regional cooperation，it will also expand potential internal differences and increase the difficulty of reaching a consensus. In this regard，it is essential to emphasize the features of SCO cooperation in security，economy，humanitarian and cultural relations，and other areas. This will help improve the effectiveness of SCO cooperation，foster mutual understanding and trust within the organization，and establish appealing multilateral mechanisms and cooperation models. These efforts are aimed at facilitating the smooth transition of SCO from a regional entity to a global organization.
