Hosting the Olympic Games is an important opportunity to promote the low-carbon transition of an international metropolis，and Beijing’s low-carbon initiatives reveal the potential of large-scale sporting events in promoting sustainable development. The Beijing Winter Olympic Games provided a “Chinese solution” for the low-carbon transformation of international metropolises in terms of top-level design，building carbon-neutral demonstration projects，mobilizing social forces，and deepening international consensus on carbon neutrality. The Paris 2024 Olympic Games has also formed certain complementary measures and innovative practices in low-carbon transportation，sustainable architecture，and public participation. It is worthy of reference and learning for international metropolises. From Beijing to Paris，Olympic cities have adopted different policies in energy utilization，green transportation，carbon compensation and other fields，but the common experience is based on the long-term needs of urban low-carbon transformation and sustainable development，strengthen planning，technology and public participation，and translate low-carbon experience into long-term sustainable urban development strategies.
