Promoting the high-quality development of “the Belt and Road” is an important deployment of the 20th Party Congress. Zhongshan’s economy has a high degree of export orientation，and it is of great significance to analyze the impact of “the Belt and Road” Initiative on Zhongshan and examine the countermeasures against it in the context of a complex and changing international environment. This paper summarizes the achievements of the 10th anniversary of “the Belt and Road” initiative，analyzes the impact of “the Belt and Road” initiative on the economic and social development of Zhongshan City，and brings opportunities and challenges. On this basis，the paper suggests to build a new path of foreign economic and trade cooperation，improve the quality and level of investment cooperation，give full play to the advantages of overseas Chinese hometowns to promote the construction of “the Belt and Road” in high quality，give more policy support and guidance to enterprises going out，and optimize the external environment for building “the Belt and Road” together. “Zhongshan will put forward countermeasures and suggestions for the better implementation of the initiative.
