China is currently vigorously advancing the digital education strategy，with e-Learning platforms emerging as a crucial initiative to promote the digital transformation of education and foster a learning society. The rapid development of emerging intelligent technologies，such as generative artificial intelligence and the metaverse，can provide digital empowerment for the innovative evolution of e-Learning platforms. Generative artificial intelligence revolutionizes the creation paradigm of learning resources on e-Learning platforms through intelligent content generation，and enhances users’ personalized learning experiences with tailored content. Metaverse technology shapes three-dimensional online learning space by creating immersive visual learning environments，and enhances users’ interactive learning experiences by creating virtual character identities. It is evident that emerging intelligent technologies like generative artificial intelligence and the metaverse empower the innovative development of e-Learning platforms from multiple aspects，such as enriching learning resources，transforming learning modes，innovating learning environments，and strengthening learning interactions.
