鼻烟壶作为中外交流中很常见的物品，是物质文化研究的极佳对象。其不仅具有容器的基本功能，且有一定的文化演进意义。通过研究基于手工技艺的物质文化来观察背后的价值观、思想、态度和预设，是一个非常有意义的尝试。以往关于鼻烟壶的研究主要讨论收藏问题，间或涉及几位皇帝的喜好。本文从容器塑造和文化心理学的角度探讨一些关键问题，观察了鼻烟壶作为对象的历时形成过程及其丰富的社会背景。
As a very common thing in the communication between China and the West，snuff bottle is a good object for the study of material culture. It not only has the basic function as a container，but also has a certain meaning of cultural development. It is a very meaningful attempt to observe the values，ideas，attitudes，and presuppositions behind by studying the material culture based on the handicrafts. Previous studies on snuff bottle mainly discussed the issues of collections，or touched on several emperors who loved it. This paper explores the key issues from the perspective of container shaping and cultural psychology，observing the diachronic formation process of snuff bottle as an object and its rich social context.
