2019年巴布亚新几内亚布干维尔自治区独立公投结束以后，自治区政府积极推进协商进程，在与巴新中央政府就未来政治走向展开政治磋商的同时兼顾经济独立。2020年，托罗阿马继任布干维尔自治政府主席以后，他提出六点战略，力图从政治、经济、外交等多层次为迎接该地区的独立做好准备。根据双方2022年4月协商结果，巴新议会在2023年开启批准程序。然而，布干维尔能否在2025～2027年实现政治走向明朗化仍充满不确定性。
The Autonomous Government of Bougainville actively promoted the consultation process，taking into account economic independence while launching political consultations with the central government of Papua New Guinea on the future of Bougainville since 2019 referendum. After Toroama took over as President of the Bougainville Autonomous Government in 2020，he proposed a six-point strategy to prepare the region for the coming independence from the political，economic and diplomatic levels. According to the latest negotiations between the two sides，the PNG Parliament will start the ratification process in 2023，however，whether Bougainville can achieve political clarity between 2025-2027 remains uncertain.
