New Zealand is actively participating in the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders’ Meeting as well as the Ministerial Meeting in 2022，and asserts that it will conduct diplomacy with Pacific island countries with respect. New Zealand，Pacific island countries and each other work together on areas such as democracy，the economy，security，social welfare，climate and disaster resilience，and emphasise the importance of coordinated responses to future pandemics，achieving gender equality，reducing violence against women and improving cooperation in education，culture and sport. New Zealand reaffirmed its commitment to tackling the challenges of climate change，pledging NZ$1.3 billion in climate change financing over the period 2022-2025. Meanwhile，security is a key issue in New Zealand’s diplomacy with the Pacific，including transnational issues such as climate change，transnational crime and cybercrime. 2022 sees New Zealand redefine its national strategy，with an increased focus on working with allies in security and strategic areas.
