There were milestone events in the politics，economy and diplomacy in the Republic of Palau in 2022. In the political field，the government led by Whipps Jr. promoted the reform of minimum wage，negotiated with the U.S. to renew the Compact of Free Association，and launched several “special” political elections. In economy，tourism began to rebound and the number of tourists nearly doubled that of 2021，so the economic downturn was curbed. In diplomacy，Palau became a focus of world powers as high officials from the U.S.，Australia，Japan and Germany all visited Palau，and the climate diplomacy by the Whipps Jr. government also made the voices of Palau heard for many times on the world stage.
