In 2022,the world is facing many complex issues such as inflation, food crisis and energy security due to multiple factors such as the escalating crisis in Ukraine and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, when economic recovery is generally sluggish around the world. Pacific Island countries, far from the centre of the world economy system, are gradually promoting economic recovery in a difficult international and regional environment. After a period of travel restrictions and quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic, the second half of 2022 saw Pacific island countries re-opened their doors and borders to facilitate tourism and trade. Looking ahead, the economic recovery of Pacific island countries face high uncertainties due to a variety of persistent economic, financial, geopolitical and environmental risks.
