The construction of national Marine ecological civilization demonstration zone，as an important support for protecting and maintaining the sustainable development of the ocean and solving the problems of Marine economy，resources and environment，is of great significance for safeguarding the sound ecological environment of the ocean and the sustainable development of human society. In 2022，the Party’s 20th National Congress report proposed “developing the Marine economy，protecting the Marine ecological environment，and accelerating the construction of a Marine power”，and the Marine ecological civilization demonstration zone，as a key starting point for the construction of a Marine power，has ushered in new opportunities and challenges. This report starts from the construction practice of Marine ecological civilization demonstration zones，and sorts out the five aspects of Marine economic development，Marine resource utilization，Marine culture construction，Marine ecological protection and Marine management guarantee of each demonstration zone in 2022. In general，the construction of national Marine ecological civilization demonstration zones in 2022 has achieved good results，with significant improvement in Marine science and technology support capacity，continuous outstanding Marine law enforcement construction，increasingly visible high-quality development results of the Marine economy，and increasingly in-depth participation in international Marine cooperation and governance. However，at the same time，there are also problems such as uncoordinated Marine industrial structure，not optimistic ecological conditions in coastal waters，imperfect Marine ecological civilization construction institutions and mechanisms，and weak public awareness of Marine ecological civilization. In the future，the construction of Marine ecological civilization demonstration zones should continuously improve the red line of Marine ecological protection and pay close attention to Marine ecological restoration，accelerate the optimization and upgrading of Marine industrial structure，promote the construction of Marine ecological civilization institutions and mechanisms，create a public consensus on Marine ecological civilization，and comprehensively promote the construction of Marine ecological civilization demonstration zones.
