新中国成立初期20多年间，中国鲜见海洋文化方面的研究。20世纪70年代，随着对“海上丝绸之路”的回溯，中国海洋文化研究渐渐被学界关注。经过40多年的开拓与积累，2013年起，中国海洋文化研究因“一带一路”倡议的提出而呈现蓬勃发展态势。中国海洋文化研究由起初从历史学切入，到多学科多角度研究，迄今呈现多学科共同建构理论体系的格局。20世纪七八十年代，中国海洋文化研究受西方海洋话语权影响颇深，本土海洋文化信心明显不足。20世纪90年代，随着对中国海洋文化资源的挖掘和梳理，本土海洋文化信心逐渐得到恢复并日渐高涨。进入21世纪后，中国海洋文化研究呈现多学科多方法争相研究的新局面，海洋文化理论建构日臻系统和完善。中国海洋文化研究在1949～2019年的发展历程中经历了沉寂期、启蒙期和发展期，今后需着力加快海洋文化理论建构，加强人才培养，构建有中国特色的海洋文化研究体系。
In the early 20 years since the founding of New China，China has rarely seen research on marine culture. In the 1970s，with the retrospection of the Maritime Silk Road，marine culture research has been concerned by the academic world. After more than 40 years of development and accumulation，it has been flourishing in 2013 due to the “One Belt，One Road” initiative. The study of marine culture has been carried out from the beginning of history，to multi-disciplinary and multi-angle research，and has so far presented a pattern of multi-disciplinary construction of a theoretical system. In the 1970s and 1980s，the study of marine culture was greatly influenced by the right to speak in the Western Ocean. The confidence of the local marine culture was obviously insufficient. In the 1990s，with the excavation and combing of China’s marine cultural resources，the confidence of local marine culture gradually recovered and became increasingly high. After entering the 21st century，marine culture research presents a new situation in which multidisciplinary and multi-method competing to study，and the marine culture theory constructs a corona system and perfects. China’s marine culture research has gone through a period of silence，enlightenment and development in the course of 70 years of development. In the future，we must focus on the construction of marine culture theory，strengthen personnel training，and build a marine culture research system with Chinese characteristics.
