Australia is an important partner of France in the Indo-Pacific region. However, the outbreak of the “AUKUS” incident in 2021 has had a serious impact on the development of Australia-France relations, and has also had an important spillover effect on bilateral cooperation in regional affairs, defense industry, trade and investment. After 2022,under the influence of internal communication and coordination as well as external(US) pressure,Australia-France relations showed a trend of relaxation and improvement. Military and security cooperation were the priority areas for both sides to promote cooperation, and how to get out of the negative impact of 2021“submarine crisis” became the focus of Australia-France negotiations. In the coming period, the relationship between France and Australia will continue to face both opportunities and challenges. In particular, the differences between the two countries on the attitude towards China and the direction of the Indo-Pacific strategy will affect the further deepening of bilateral relations.
