本文以“Hispania”“Spain”等词语在中日文献中的汉字译名为研究对象,采用计量与文本解读相结合的研究方法,考察译词“西班牙”产生、演变、交流、受容、定型的过程。译词“西班牙”最早见于汉语文献,是拉丁语“Spania”的译词。其后通过汉译西书传入日本,被日语所接受。在明治期间,日语完成了“西班牙”的译词定型,时间早于汉语。中译日书的翻译、中国知识分子对于西方地理与历史的重视、日本近代化对于中国知识分子的影响客观上促进了译词“西班牙”在汉语中的定型。
This paper takes the translation of “Hispania” and “Span” in Chinese and Japanese classics as the research object,and uses the research method of combining corpus and classics to investigate the process of generation,evolution,communication,acceptance and finalization of translation. The translation of “Spain” was found in Chinese classics,and it was the translated word of Latin “Spania”. It was introduced into Japan through Japanese translation of Chinese books and accepted by Japanese. During the Meiji period,Japanese completed the finalization of “Spain”,earlier than Chinese. The translation of Chinese into Japanese books,the attention of Chinese intellectuals to western geography and history,and the influence of Japanese modernization on Chinese intellectuals objectively promoted the stereotype of the translated word “Spain” in Chinese.
