2020 is the final year of China’s decisive battle against poverty,a decisive year for building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, and the 55th anniversary of the founding of the Tibet Autonomous Region. In order to have a true and in-depth understanding of the protection of economic and social rights in the Tibet Autonomous Region, the research team of the Human Rights Institute of Southwest University of Political Science and Law went to the Tibet Autonomous Region to conduct research through visits, seminars, and interviews in May 2020. The survey shows that the Tibet Autonomous Region has achieved outstanding results in ecological poverty alleviation, the living environment has been improved, and ecological and environmental protection has reached a consensus in Tibet. Education assistance to Tibet is an important driving force for improving the level of protection of the right to education, and the “group” assistance to Tibet has an outstanding effect. With the help of “group” assistance of medical talents in Tibet, significant progress has been made in the construction of Tibet’s health care infrastructure, maternal and child health care, and the prevention and treatment of endemic diseases. Women play an active role in the development of Tibetan society, and their rights in terms of education, social security, and political participation are fully guaranteed. However, there are still areas that need to be further improved in the process of development, such as how to deal with the conflict between economic and social development and environmental pressure. Teacher resources are structurally short, and some students have a solidified outlook on career choices. The allocation of medical and health resources is unbalanced, and the follow-up power of professional talents is still insufficient. The aging of women has become a new challenge and so on. In general, the economic and social rights of the Tibet Autonomous Region have been effectively guaranteed, decisive progress has been made in the battle against poverty, and the material life and spiritual culture of the people have undergone tremendous changes.
