This study aimed to review the literature on health communication related to the COVID-19 pandemic in the past three years, and tries to answer:Does the pandemic reveal new problems that have not been identified in previous health communication? What new findings have researchers gleaned from health communication practices during the pandemic? What are the implications for global public health governance? This study found that:since the COVID-19 pandemic, there have been many insights from various disciplines conducting health communication research related to the pandemic from their own disciplinary perspectives, among which “infodemic” is the most concerned communication issue;the hasty production of scientific knowledge for health communication has affected public health policymaking;user-generated health content is becoming the main content of health communication;meanwhile, precision health has set higher requirements for health communication. In the face of these new agendas, new phenomena, and new problems, this review also presents implications for public health governance from four perspectives:sources, channels, targets, and contents.
