From the mid-Ming Dynasty to the early Qing Dynasty，Yuhuan Island in Zhejiang Province was privately cultivated by the coastal people for a long time. After Kangxi pacified Taiwan，the ban on Yuhuan Island has not been repealed. Until the Yongzheng period，under the background of the dynasty’s encouragement of land reclamation，local officials included Yuhuan Island in the scope of land development in the name of reclamation，and established Tongzhi 同知 and Canjiang 参将 on Yuhuan Island. The dynasty strengthened the military and political control over Yuhuan Island and the surrounding waters，and it also had a profound impact on the local society of the island.
