In 1991,China and ASEAN established a dialogue partnership. Over the past 30 years,starting from mutually beneficial economic and trade cooperation,the two sides have gradually established a series of cooperation mechanisms,seeking common ground while reserving differences,and promoting comprehensive cooperation in politics,economy and culture fields. In 2021,China and ASEAN upgraded their bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership,and have been each other’s largest trading partner for two consecutive years. Although the situation in the South China Sea is affected by external factors,it remains generally stable. Both China and ASEAN advocate and pursue open regionalism. There is in sharp contrast of situation between East Asia and Europe today. In 2022,the political and diplomatic relations between China and ASEAN is moving forward steadily,and economic cooperation and trade exchanges are maintaining a development trend of many years before.
