This report summarizes the strategic requirements that Guangzhou needs to respond to and realize to enhance the core engine functions of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area（the GBA），and analyzes the progress of core engine function construction of Guangzhou. Based on the idea of “benchmarking & reinforcing weak links”，“strengthening mechanism & enhancing vitality”，it also plans to build a new space to enhance the core engine function of Guangzhou in the GBA from the aspects of high-quality urban space，networking of portal function nodes，high-end economic entities，functional hubs of business centers，and convergence of education，science，technology and culture，then further proposes innovative measures and mechanisms for building a modern international business environment as a place of origin，setting up the GBA strategic cooperation functional zone，and building a cluster area of international innovation factors. The author thinks that Guangzhou can focus on introducing high-end elements with higher efficiency and stronger competitiveness，focus on core and high-end links with high added value and high income，make up for the defects of existing structure，enhance the function of industry driving，and consolidate and strengthen the hub function of the city. The author also make use of the particularity and difference of the city itself to create more reform items with revolutionary significance.
