Since 2020,the world’s profound changes unseen in a century and the global pandemic of COVID-19 have severely impacted the economic and social development of Portuguese-speaking countries. The economy has experienced a great recession that has not been seen in many years. The GDP per capita has fallen sharply. The total value of import and export commodities has experienced an unprecedented drop, foreign investment has dropped significantly, and the government has a heavy debt burden. Social order has been severely disturbed. Although the population of these countries has increased in varying degrees, the unemployment rate has soared. Most of Portuguese-speaking countries are still developing countries and have a long way to go in economic and social development. All countries have adopted relatively strict emergency measures to prevent and control the spread of the pandemic, and to protect people’s lives to the greatest extent in the case of a shortage of medical facilities. At the same time, these countries have adopted special fiscal and monetary policies, maintained a considerable scale of foreign trade, strived to improve the investment environment, and minimized the damage caused by the pandemic. China and Portuguese-speaking countries have strengthened cooperation and joined hands to fight COVID-19. China has provided emergency medical supplies and vaccine assistance to Portuguese-speaking countries to help Portuguese-speaking countries to ease the pressure of the pandemic of COVID-19,working together to create a community of shared future for mankind. With the gradual weakening of the pandemic of COVID-19,the economy of Portuguese-speaking countries is expected to recover in 2021,and the economic and trade cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries will gain more development opportunities.
