In conjunction with mass political protests in Slovenia，the opposition parties submitted several motions of no confidence against the leading government in 2021. The newly formed government led by Janša was thus facing serious crisis of confidence throughout the year. Economically，Slovenia managed to overcome the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and the energy crisis and achieved steady growth. In foreign relations，Slovenia made remarkable achievements during its rotating presidency of the European Council. 2021 also coincided with the 30th anniversary of its independence，and celebrations were launched in the country all around the year. Slovenian athletes achieved excellent results in the Tokyo Olympic Games. In 2021，China and Slovenia launched extensive cooperation in economy，trade，and social and cultural affairs；cooperation in winter sports continued to develop.
