In 2021，the political situation in Latvia was generally stable. Latvia held its first municipal elections after the administrative reform. Nils Ušakovs，the former mayor of Riga，was stripped of the parliamentary immunity by the European Parliament. Although still effected by COVID-19，Latvia’s GDP grew by 4.8% in 2021. Through investment in the “green corridors” project，the Latvian government attempted to drive faster growth. The government also issued bonds to deal with the global climate challenge. Latvia held a series of events to mark the 100th anniversary of de jure recognition of the Republic of Latvia by the international community. To resolve the migrant crisis on the borders between Latvia and Belarus，Latvia strengthened communication and collaboration with Estonia，Lithuania and Poland. In response to the tough situations caused by COVID-19，the Latvian government adjusted policies and promoted COVID-19 vaccine acceptance. The 12^th Latvian School Youth Song and Dance Festival was successfully held. The year of 2021 marked the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China. The two counties deepened cooperation in various fields.
