The theory of common cultural is the major research direction and the lifelong pursuit of Williams，the core figure of British culture Marxism. The theory holds that with the recognition of culture as an integral lifestyle as well as the legitimization of common culture，the society is expected to construct a shared culture with the basic features of equality，involvement，difference，and dynamics. It is taking the community under the guideline of goodwill as the goal，taking the democratic spreading and cultural expansion as the elementary path and abiding by the tenet of natural growth and mutual support. This theory has significant implications for the development of socialist culture with Chinese characteristics in the new era，that is，to deal with multiple cultural relationships guided by Marxism，to face common human culture on the basis of the dialectical relationship between cultural particularity and universality，and to lead human common culture while promoting the construction of worldwide common culture.
