The world has witnessed a persistent and unchecked pandemic，accelerating changes unseen for a century. In 2021，the deep impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Africa’s politics，economy，society and security has become more evident. African countries actively fought the pandemic，sought peace，promoted development，maintained stability，pushed the integration process to buck the trend，and continued to enhance the collective influence of African countries in international affairs. 2021 is an important year for China-Africa relations. China and Africa successfully held the 8th Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation（FOCAC） in Dakar，capital of Senegal. Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the opening ceremony of the meeting via video link and delivered a keynote speech，summarized the spirit of China-Africa friendship and cooperation，put forward “four proposals” on building a China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era，and announced that China would work closely with African countries to implement the “nine programs” and further strengthen China-Africa cooperation. China and Africa have continuously deepened strategic mutual trust，joined hands to fight the COVID-19 pandemic，promoted the transformation and upgrading of practical cooperation，and jointly defended the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries. Standing at a new historical starting point，China and Africa have a firmer determination to foster solidarity，a brighter prospect for common development，and a stronger momentum to upgrade cooperation. At the same time，China-Africa relations are also facing a more complicated external environment. In 2022，the international situation has undergone major changes and entered a new period of turbulence and transformation. 2022 is the first year of the full implementation of the outcomes of the 8th Ministerial Conference of FOCAC. China and Africa will continue to adhere to the fundamental direction of building a China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era，carry forward the spirit of China-Africa friendship and cooperation，remove distractions，strengthen unity and coordination，implement the “nine programs”，continuously consolidate the public opinion foundation of China-Africa relations，and jointly push the international order and the global governance system in a fairer and more reasonable direction.
