From June 8-9，2017，the National Institute for Global Strategy（NIGS）of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences（CASS），the Guangming Think Tank and the University of International Relations（UIR）jointly held a 2017 BRICS Think-Tanks Forum in Beijing. The forum was titled “The Coordinationof BRICS Development Strategies：Way to Common Prosperity” and more than 40 government officials and experts from nearly 40 organizations in the BRICS attended the conference.Wang Linggui，Executive Vice Chairman of Board of Directors and Secretary of NIGS hosted the opening ceremony. Cai Fang，Vice President of CASS and Chairman of Board of Directors of NIGS，Shen Weixing，associate managing editor of Guangming Daily，Tao Jian，President of UIR and Lu Zhongwei，Former General-Director of the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations attended the opening ceremony and gave speeches. In the two-day meeting，the officials and experts from five countries held dialogues on key issues of BRICS development and cooperation，ran through background，condition，content，method and experience for the development and cooperation，as well as root questions faced and possible challenges in the future，attempted to bring forth new ideas，structures，concepts and methods that might promote strategic integration among the BRICS，in order to realize BRICS countries’ common interest，development steady and harmonious multilateral cooperation and contribute to regional peace and prosperity. This September the BRICS leadership summit will be held in Xiamen and this conference will also provide preheat and outlook for the Xiamen summit. The speeches and discussions at the conference were in-depth and fruitful.
