Over the past 30 years, China has clocked astonishing economic growth rates which is unprecedented in human history considering its scale and diligence. China’s growth, even though we currently are experiencing a gradually slowing trend is a dream for many countries. The picture of present-day China is a stark contrast of China from 40 years ago where hundreds of millions of Chinese people were struggling with poverty, malnutrition, deprivation of basic rights. From being a poor, backward country which missed 2 industrial
revolutions, China has now become the world’s 2nd largest economy (Chow, 2010).
