The times they are a-changin’ sang Bob Dylan. A refrain of the 1960s which marks a time of significant societal upheaval and uncertainty in the Western hemisphere, the song stands as an anthem to the inescapability of change. Indeed, if the human tradition of literature and art is to be trusted there has always been an undercurrent in the human psyche of living in times of change and uncertainty; at that ambiguous point between the past and the future – the present. However, mankind tends to overestimate short-term effects to the future, and under-analyze longterm shifts to the pillars of society. And our times are no
different. We are indeed witnessing tectonic shifts to these pillars – times are changing before our eyes, if one dares to look.
