As the largest,most influential and high-level regional cooperation mechanism in the Asia-Pacific region,the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation(APEC)was officially established in 1989. In 1994,an important consensus was reached at the second informal meeting of APEC leaders in Bogor,Indonesia,which is the developed and developing members of APEC will have trade and investment liberalization by 2010 and 2020 respectively. This is also called the “Bogor goals.” Under the guidance of the Bogor Goals,APEC achieved significantly. By 2020,the APEC cooperation enters a “post-Bogor” era. In the new historic era,how should APEC’s goals and paths be planned is not only a realistic issue faced by all APEC members,but also watched intently by international society.The South Pacific region not only has APEC members such as Australia,New Zealand and Papua New Guinea,but also many members of Pacific Economic Cooperation Conference(PECC)and the Pacific Islands Forum,who play important roles in the process of Asia-Pacific region economic cooperation. In the “post-Bogor” era,the deepening and expansion of APEC cooperation will provide more opportunities and platform for the South Pacific region to participate and immerge into Asia-Pacific region economic cooperation.
