Nepal is fighting with absolute poverty and achieved a lot compared to others. The current poverty population, 25.2 percent of the total population of Nepal, still are below poverty line. The fifth five-year plan (1975-1980) formally addressed the issue of poverty but it was highly prioritized in the Ninth FiveYear plan (1998-2002) of Nepal. Nepal is also one of the countries to achieve MDGs goal and focused in achieving SDGs goal on poverty reduction by 2030. Some of the major causes behind poverty in Nepal are poor investment and growth, political instability, growing unemployment and underemployment, inequality in income distribution etc. The major achievement on poverty reduction of Nepal relies on the economic benefit and income from remittances and tourism in Nepal. Nepal’s government is also highly prioritizing on the agricultural sector to minimize poverty in the rural area.
