China’s contribution to worldwide eradication of poverty has been no less impressive: in the past three decades, 500 million people were lifted out of poverty. If looking at those living on USD 1.9 a day (measured in 2011 PPPs), in the past 25 years, China’s poverty reduction contributed to a 40% fall in global poverty. The government is now addressing the issue of the poorest, which very often appears to be the toughest. This paper focuses on a related issue: inclusive growth.
