文章摘要

In his important speech at the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations held in May this year, President Xi Jinping pointed out that we should deepen inter-civilization exchanges and mutual learning to build an Asian Community with a Shared Future. Diversity spurs interaction among civilizations, which in turn promotes mutual learning and their further development. We need to foster exchanges and mutual learning among different countries, nations, and cultures in the world, and consolidate the cultural foundation for building an Asian Community with a Shared Future and a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind.People-to-people exchanges and connectivity are vital to the establishment of these two communities. To a large extent, people-to-people connectivity depends on and dictates the depth, breadth, and duration of cultural communication. To maintain benign and sustainable communication, it is crucial to seek more common denominators and construct the maximum common denominator of the cultural foundation. To some extent, this will shape the establishment, consolidation, and development of an Asian Community with a Shared Future. The maximum common denominator is derived from the depth, breadth, and durability of inter-civilization exchanges. The former is connotation; the latter is a process. Therefore, how to focus on the depth and novelty of exchanges is central to the construction of an Asian Community with a Shared Future. That means we need to attach importance to new space for development and new paths for communication in the new historical era. At the same time, we must focus on the maximum common denominator, and dig deeper into the common denominators to generate new vitality, deepen exchanges and mutual learning, and build an Asian Community with a Shared Future.

Abstract

People-to-people exchanges and connectivity are vital to the establishment of these two communities.
