Manner adverbials make a very important grammatical category of modern Chinese. Grammarians have paid close attention to the connotation，characteristics and cognitive interpretation of manner adverbials and discussed their syntactic and semantic characteristics，on which considerable achievements have been made. However，disputes still exist in the study of manner adverbials. This article probes into the studying sketch and the related issues in the study of manner adverbials，and reflect on the new perspectives in the study of grammatical categories in the context of modern linguistic theories.
