2020年，在新冠肺炎疫情肆虐全球，严重影响世界经济的背景下，越南通过采取严格的抗疫措施、及时的疫情纾困和经济刺激措施，完成了既要控制疫情又要保证经济增长的“双重目标”，经济实现复苏，GDP同比增长2.91%，宏观经济稳定，通货膨胀得到有效抑制，国内消费旺盛，对外贸易继续增长，贸易顺差再创新高，经济增长方式与增长质量有所改善，取得了较好的发展成绩。2021年1月召开的越共十三大谋划了越南今后较长时期的发展规划，为越南设定了到2045年成为社会主义发达国家的宏伟目标。
Facing to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020，Vietnam still achieved the twin goals of effectively combating COVID-19 and boosting economic growth in global decline by means of opportune and effective measures for the pandemic and economic stimulus. The economy recovered and GDP grew by 2.91%. The macro-economy remained stable，inflation was under effective control，domestic consumption was robust，foreign trade continued to grow，trade surplus reached a new high，the pattern and quality of economic growth were improved，and good results were achieved. It was a vital period for transition in 2020，and on the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam in January，2021，a series long-term development goals have been set up with careful consideration，portraying a new future plan for Vietnam to the middle of the 21 century.
