The 2020 Polish presidential election was held on 28 June. The incumbent president Andrzej Duda (51.03%) beat challenger Rafal Trzaskowski (48.97%) by slight advantage. Under the background of COVID-19,the presidential election was deemed special:a social debate was triggered due to changes of the election date and format, and the turnout rate was extremely high. Duda’s re-election is attributed to his reliable performance in the fight against COVID-19,stable and conservative social policy, the control of media by the Law and Justice Party, and the fulfilment of his previous election promises. His re-election will ensure the policy continuity and stability, maintain the diplomatic stance which is pro-US,suspicious of Europe and anti-Russia. However, the Polish society might be increasingly torn apart.
