近年来，日本政府持续强化其数字经济发展，但从结果来看，日本数字经济发展速度相较于美国、中国等国偏慢，国际排名也呈现逐步下滑的趋势。新冠肺炎疫情短暂促进日本数字经济发展，但从相关调查问卷来看，疫情虽然提高了日本民众对于数字服务的利用率，但仍有部分民众对于数字服务持有较强抵制心理。日本数字经济的发展也伴随着诸多问题，如平台垄断、个人信息泄露等，日本政府通过出台相关措施，在不断规范中促进数字经济健康发展。
