Building Inner Mongolia into an important bridgehead for China’s opening to the north is the strategic position determined by General Secretary Xi Jinping and the Party Central Committee for Inner Mongolia. In recent years，Inner Mongolia has actively participated in the construction of the “Belt and Road” initiative and deeply participated in the construction of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor. By making efforts in foreign trade，infrastructure interconnection，port development，and cultural exchanges，Inner Mongolia has made remarkable achievements in the construction of a bridgehead for opening to the north. At the beginning of the Fourteenth Five-Year Plan，Inner Mongolia continues to improve the construction level of an important bridgehead for opening to the north by optimizing the industrial structure，adjusting the foreign trade structure，vigorously developing the pan-port economy，and creating a open platform in all fields.
