At the end of 2021，French writer Eric Zemmour announced his participation in the presidential election and created his own party，the “Reconquête”. As a new political figure，Zemmour won the support of far-right voters for his extreme nationalist and populist discourse and reached the fourth place in the voters’ intention poll. Zemmour’s rise represents a new phenomenon in French politics. This article analyzes the reason for his popularity，his impact on the French political right-wing landscape and the changes his extreme views might cause to France’s immigration policy.
