Australia and New Zealand pose strong attractions to Chinese students in terms of the excellent quality and highly-internationalized education system, the good living environment, open residence and immigration policies,well-maintained social security constitute etc. For the Chinese students in Australia and New Zealand, their fields of study are mainly business administration, science and technology. Their geographic distribution within the countries is also highly skewed. Both Australia and New Zealand imposed strict border control to prevent the spread of the COVID-19. The situation that a large proportion of students were being locked out and unable to return to their campuses has considerably impacted not only the study experiences and results for the students, but also the international education sector in the host destinations. As a part of their post-COVID recovery strategies, both countries attached great importance to international education and aim to improve the study experience with more flexible visa policies and digital transformation of education.
