Croatia is located on the east coast of the Adriatic Sea on the Balkan Peninsula,between Central and Southeast Europe. The history development process on this land has nurtured the country’s rich and splendid history and culture. Today,Croatia is an important country along the “Belt and Road” initiative. In recent years,with the deepening of cooperation between China and Croatia,the demand for mutual understanding between the two peoples has increased,so have the exchanges and cooperation in the cultural field. Among them,cooperation in the field of intangible cultural heritage protection has shown a certain importance. Learning about a country’s intangible cultural heritage is one of the important ways to understand a country’s history,social customs as well as national character. Croatia attaches great importance to the protection of its intangible cultural heritage,actively participates in various protection actions within the UN and EU. Besides,the country coordinates the protection of intangible cultural heritage at the national level,so that all related departments,entities,institutions and individuals have ways to participate in this course,mobilizing the enthusiasm of all parts. Moreover,Croatia combines the protection of intangible cultural heritage with cultural tourism,and has attained positive outcome. This report will introduce Croatia’s intangible cultural heritage on the UNESCO list one by one,outline the country’s system,measures and experience in the protection of intangible cultural heritage,and briefly review its international cooperation in this field,with a view to increase the cultural understanding of this country. This report will also try to find the helpful reference in Croatia’s experience for the protection of intangible cultural heritage in China.
