The Connected Industries Strategy is a key link and important means for Japan to realize “Social 5.0”. At the same time, the implementation of the Connected Industries Strategy also requires a good manufacturing foundation. It should be said that after 2010,especially after the Abenomics was proposed, the Japanese manufacturing industry has gradually returned and its performance has improved. This study takes the Japanese manufacturing industry as the research object and uses panel data of 698 manufacturing sub-sectors from 2010-2015 in the Industry Statistical Survey of the Ministry of Economy,Trade and Industry of Japan to conduct an empirical analysis of the root causes of manufacturing development. The conclusion is that from 2010 to 2015,the TFP of the Japanese manufacturing industry basically showed an increasing trend;the growth of the Japanese manufacturing TFP since 2010 is the fundamental reason for the recent better performance of the Japanese manufacturing industry. This article also discusses the possibility, necessity and feasibility of the implementation of the Connected Industries Strategy from the perspective of manufacturing in Japan, and analyzes the enlightenment of the Connected Industries Strategy to the development of China’s manufacturing industry.
