In 2020,affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, the global economy suffered a serious recession. The persistent travel bans and trade restrictions have had an unprecedented impact on the economies of the Pacific island countries. A series of serious problems, such as stagnation of pillar industries, collapse of a large number of enterprises, high unemployment rate, shortage of basic materials, and widening fiscal deficits, have brought tremendous pressure on the economic and social development of this fragile island country. Facing the crisis, the island countries actively carried out self-help and sought international assistance. However, due to its own ability and the influence of the current international situation, the recent economic recovery still faces many uncertain risks and challenges. Under the normal epidemic prevention and control mechanism,it is urgent for island countries to formulate a systematic economic recovery plan after the epidemic as soon as possible, and focus on the present. In the long run,the island countries should focus on cultivating a number of major industrial projects that consolidate their foundation, expand their advantages and enhance their stamina. The Pacific island countries should make joint efforts to improve the health care sector, and steadily promote the economic recovery and development.
