Since urban decarbonization and sustainable development have been endowed with more profound connotations and missions under global carbon neutrality,Schneider Electric and Enel has released the plan of “Net Zero Carbon City:Integrated Approach” on WEF in 2020,proposing to gradually realize the goal by “energy saving and efficiency enhancement of the whole system”. It offers the potential to accelerate the decarbonization and resilience of cities worldwide, including super-efficient buildings, smart energy infrastructure, clean electrification, compact cities and circular economy approaches to water, waste and materials. This paper will analyze the core implications of the report and explore the implications for China to achieve “carbon neutrality” by 2060.
