The Marxist comprehensive-innovation cultural school is the mainstream school of Marxist cultural study in China in the last hundred years. Since the 1920s，the Marxist comprehensive-innovation cultural school has evolved through six main stages，presenting a theoretical idiosyncrasy with specific identity and close cooperation between the leaders of the Communist Party of China and the Marxist scholars. The basic perspectives of this school are as follows：（1）when studying the cultural research，historical materialism and materialist dialectics must be adhered to；（2）the dialectical unity of insisting on Marxism and developing Marxism be brought about；（3）the critically inheritance and modern transformation of Chinese traditional culture be carried forward；（4）the objective analysis and absorbing the quintessence of the foreign culture be actualized；（5）the status and the relationship among Chinese traditional culture，western culture and Marxism be properly handled；（6）and the critical inheritance and transcendental innovation of the way of thinking on the “subject-usage” such as the theory of “Marxism as spirit，Chinese learning as subject，western learning as usage” be pushed forward. Xi Jinping emphasized that we should take the attitude of equal and tolerant，analytical and critical，successive and innovative towards Chinese and Western culture under the guidance of Marxism，which points out the developing direction of socialist culture with Chinese characteristics in the new era. Today，we should more consciously sum up and evaluate the historical experience of the struggle over the cultural road in the last hundred years under the banner of the Marxist comprehensive-innovative cultural theory，in particular，promoting the deep dialogue and organic integration between the basic principles of Marxism and Chinese excellent traditional culture.
