The Micronesia project was forced through the intervention of the White House and the Department of the Interior,creating unprecedented opportunities and challenges for the Peace Corps. Guided by the theory of “A Towering Task”,project leader Pritchard has blindly enlarged the project,comparing it to what he termed “a revolution in our grasp”,only to fail by ignoring the quality of the project. Although the Micronesia project failed to achieve its intended objectives,it had a profound impact on Micronesia and on the Peace Corps itself,and eventually succeeded in remaking their appearance.
