By reviewing the institutional changes on Macau’s public housing framework，this article reveals how the two principal public housing typologies （social housing and economic housing） have been evolved to cope with the socio-economic development. Existing major problems are also examined. In formulating a multi-tier and longer-standing public housing policy，suggestions including the formation of a new type of “subsidised housing”，the provision of “intermediate housing” and closer supervision on construction are also discussed.
