2014年，面对复杂严峻的国内外环境，广州坚持稳中求进，努力培育创新动力，经济在新常态下保持平稳运行，全年地区生产总值（GDP）比上年增长8.6%。2015年，广州市应通过继续着力优化发展环境；提升产业结构层次；优化投资结构，提高投资效益；激发消费需求，强化内生动力；稳定外贸出口，加强区域合作等政策手段，促进经济发展实现预期目标。
In 2014，faced with complicated environment at home and abroad，Guangzhou adhered to seek improvement in stability，made efforts to foster innovative impetus，realized smooth economic operation in the new normal，and increased GDP by 8.6% over the last year. In 2015，Guangzhou should continue to optimize the development environment；improve the industrial structure and the efficiency of investment；optimize the investment structure，stimulate consumer demand and strengthen endogenous power；stabilize foreign trade export，and strengthen regional cooperation and other policy means，to achieve the expected goals of economic development.
