Indonesia is located at the crossroads of the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean as well as Asia and Oceania; It is an important pivot and strategic fulcrum of the Maritime Silk Road. China’s initiative on a joint construction of “the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road” has gained a strategic connection to Indonesia’s “Global Marine Fulcrum” and pushed both sides to achieve preliminary results in trade cooperation, traffic connection, entrepreneurial cooperation, and cultural exchanges. The scope of their trade cooperation has been enlarged incessantly after the recovery from a somewhat sluggishness in previous years. The Bandung-Jakarta Rapid Railway project has officially started, setting up a new landmark for bilateral cooperation in transportation and infrastructural construction, and providing new opportunities for their cooperation in the machine and equipment manufacturing industry, the information and intelligence technology,as well as the marine engineering and ocean industry. In the meanwhile, importance must be attached to the basic role played by Indonesian Chinese in cultural exchanges, and attention must be paid to the cultural differences between China and Indonesia, the ethnic variety and the national independence;opportunities and channels for civil collaboration and exchange of people’s mind must be increased;the dominant role that enterprises play in building the “Maritime Silk Road” must be strengthened;security cooperation and risk prevention must be improved.
