The Bark, written by Saudi Arabic writer Abdo Khal,is a classical anti-war novel in contemporary Gulf. Using the marginalized narration of a nobody,Khal not only authentically reproduced how the Gulf War had devastated and influenced the Arabic society, but also denounced politicians for blindly waging war for their own interests, without considering the demands and interests of the public. This paper analyzes the anti-war narration of Abdo Khal from three perspectives:historical narration, personal identity and the culture of shame. Based on the community with a shared future of mankind,Khal’s anti-war narration discussed the destruction of people’s life styles and the distortion of humanity caused by Gulf War,which shows the ultimate concern of Abdo Khal for human destiny.
