In 2020,the sudden COVID-19 epidemic has brought unprecedented challenges to countries around the world. In response to the pandemic, most countries, including the UK,have imposed restrictions on international migration, which not only increases the complexity and uncertainty brought about by the ‘Brexit’,but also forced the UK government to adjust its immigration policy to cope with changes and challenges. In 2020,the UK maintains a positive net long-term immigration. The number of immigrants into and out of the UK showed a steady growth trend, the number of immigrants related to learning continued to grow, while the number of immigrants related to work showed a decreasing trend, and the number of tourists entering the UK decreased significantly compared with the same period last year. With the continuous changes of the pandemic situation, the British government has introduced corresponding responses and control measures from the national level, border control, population migration, aiming to achieve the improvement of the epidemic situation in the UK and alleviate the economic pressure and immigration burden caused by the lockdown due to pandemic situation.
